Where can I get free LLM credits right now?
The quickest options are ongoing free tiers: Google’s Gemini API free tier, Groq’s Free plan, OpenRouter’s free models, Cloudflare Workers AI, Mistral’s Free mode and Cohere’s trial keys. For a larger one-off balance, cloud trials such as Google Cloud’s $300 credit go further but require a payment method.
Which free AI APIs need no credit card?
The ones whose providers say so in their own words: OpenRouter, Mistral and Cloudflare Workers AI, plus three student offers (Azure for Students, the GitHub Student Developer Pack and JetBrains). Google, Groq and Cohere offer free tiers but do not say whether a card is needed, so we mark them “not stated”. Google Cloud and Azure trial credits require a payment method, AWS says most new customers can now sign up without one, and Cerebras requires one.
How do you keep these offers accurate?

Do free tiers expire?
Free tiers are ongoing allowances without an expiry date, but their limits change and they can end: Hugging Face stopped giving free accounts a monthly credit in October 2026. Trial credits have a separate validity period after issue, activation or another provider-defined event. That period is not an application deadline or a programme end date.
